Witness Details Time When 'Evil Attacker' Struck Manchester Synagogue
A man who helped fortifying a house of prayer in the region of Manchester has shared how a violent attack occurred, resulting in the demise of two British Jews.
On Thursday morning, the survivor was within the worship center when the assailant drove a vehicle toward and stabbed worshippers gathering for a ceremony to mark Yom Kippur.
Mr Levy noted that the 'deranged' individual attempted to force open the entryways of the place of worship, and he described securing the structure with additional congregation members.
Two individuals, aged 53 and 66 died in the attack on the morning, while additional persons were hurt while helping to safeguard congregants.
Witness Description of the Incident
The individual, who is a Chair of the Trustees at the house of worship, recounted securing the entrances and stated that the perpetrator wielded knives and plant pots to try to get in.
I observed this great, big, evil monster forcefully push against the entrance, trying to bash them down holding a sharp weapon," he told reporters.
The single phrase I heard from him was 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.
Just those words were spoken. We remained within the synagogue and we were repeating 'we are not letting this man in'.
"He was an insane and malevolent attacker."
Memorial Service Held for Individual
These comments were made as a large gathering took part in the ceremony for one of the victims.
Relatives, members from the local Jewish community including the community rabbi, and individuals of the Jewish population came together in a nearby location to pay their respects.
Those present filled the burial ground, with many standing in the open the chapel in the downpour, following the proceedings over speakers.
In a tribute shared on the following day, his relatives expressed that he was always willing to assist.
