A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of the previous year.

The win also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

Moutet saved 4 initial chances in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
