Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Is Here, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Classic Games
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow
The movie will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
