Indianapolis Colts Battle Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action
Hello, fussball fans. Wie gehts? Everything good I hope on this excellent early start to week 10 coming directly from Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on German soil and the initial in the nation’s capital.
Pregame Key Moments
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in their last game?
In a similar vein the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. Loving the sartorial choices today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the German anthem. Elegant.
Opening Period Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
And we're off! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to save his bacon with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the excitement continues as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as the wide receiver cannot reel in a quick pass from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs Jessie Bates put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.
A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Colts on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.
An agile 22-yard rush from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Oops.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by marching his Falcons down the field for a score of their own. The wide receiver makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Additional Tenth Week Games
And for afters, the jumbo package starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:
(5-4) Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Bears v Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Houston Texans v Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Vikings v Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) New York Jets v Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)
An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the game of the day.
