Football Recap: Denver Mount Fourth-Quarter Comeback Against Eagles, Ravens Suffer Historic Home-field Loss

Broncos Overcome Eagles in Thrilling Finish

Denver's quarterback found an 11-yard scoring throw and the running back contributed a two-yard ground touchdown in the final period as the Broncos erased a 14-point deficit to hand the Philadelphia Eagles their initial defeat of the season. Denver's defense batted down the Eagles quarterback's final pass on the game's concluding play to hand the Super Bowl champions to just their second loss in their last 22 games. Denver (three wins and two losses) got fortunate in their rally when the Philadelphia had a late fourth-down conversion called back on a formation infraction called on star ball carrier Barkley.

Houston Texans 44–10 Baltimore Ravens

CJ Stroud threw for 244 passing yards and four touchdowns, and Houston (2-3) cruised to a decisive victory over a depleted Baltimore team, equaling both the most lopsided road win in the franchise's record books and the worst home defeat in Baltimore's annals. The Ravens (1-4) were missing two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, and that was not their sole issue. Defensive standouts Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith and Marlon Humphrey all missed the game, and the Ravens already were weakened on that side of the ball because of a cervical issue that ended Nnamdi Madubuike's campaign. The Ravens were also without Pro Bowl blocker Ricard and tackle Ronnie Stanley.

Las Vegas Raiders 6–40 Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis' running back ran for three touchdowns and a two-point conversion, and the quarterback passed for two touchdown passes as the Indianapolis Colts routed the Las Vegas Raiders. This decisive advantage was Indianapolis' largest since 2013. Jones completed 20 passes out of 29 attempts for 212 passing yards and moved to four wins and one loss as a starter this season, exceeding his combined victory total over the past two seasons with the Giants. Taylor rushed 17 attempts for 66 yards and caught three passes for 20 receiving yards. Indianapolis converted a blocked punt, two interceptions and a turnover on downs into TDs. Las Vegas fell to 4-1.

Cowboys Soar Past Jets in High-Scoring Game

Dallas' quarterback threw four touchdown passes, leading the Cowboys to an easy victory over the Jets. Dallas put points on the board on two 90-yard drives in the second quarter, even with missing four starters on the offensive line. Javonte Williams gained 135 yards and a touchdown and also caught a TD pass. The Cowboys, now two wins, two losses, and a tie, rebounded from a 40-40 tie against the Packers last Sunday. New York are still without a victory at zero wins and five losses in their new coach's first season as the leader.

Minnesota Vikings 21–17 Cleveland Browns

Vikings receiver Addison caught a short scoring reception from Carson Wentz with under half a minute remaining to secure the Vikings a win over the Browns at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The 10-play, 80-yard drive gave the Minnesota (3-2) a crucial victory on their overseas journey, which began with a narrow defeat to the Pittsburgh in Ireland last week. It also spoiled Dillon Gabriel's debut as starter, as the Cleveland first-year player positioned his squad (1-4) in position to win by passing for two touchdown passes. Another first-year player Quinshon Judkins rushed for 110 rushing yards on 23 attempts. The quarterback shook off a shoulder injury that briefly forced him out and directed two scoring drives in the second half.

Panthers Stage Epic Comeback Against Dolphins

Carolina's quarterback threw for two scores and the running back ran for 206 rushing yards and a touchdown as the Panthers rallied past the Dolphins in Charlotte. The quarterback's short pass to the first-year receiver with 1:59 to play gave the Panthers (2-3) the lead for good as they matched the largest comeback to secure victory in team history by overcoming a large deficit. The QB had a poor start, but he finished 19-for-30 passing for 198 yards with one pick. The backup, replacing injured Chuba Hubbard, did his damage on the ground on 23 attempts, falling four yards of matching the single-game franchise rushing record. Miami's quarterback threw 27 passes out of 36 for 256 passing yards with three touchdowns and Jaylen Waddle accumulated 110 yards through the air on six catches and scored a score, but the Dolphins (one win and four losses) dropped to 0-3 in road games.

Saints Secure First Win Under New Coach

New Orleans' quarterback passed for an 87-yard touchdown to receiver Shaheed, defensive back Howden scooped up a loose ball 86 yards for a touchdown, and New Orleans beat the error-prone New York Giants for the Saints' first victory under first-year head coach Moore. The QB secured his maiden win in 11 professional starts, throwing for 225 yards without a turnover. New York's first-year signal-caller Dart, who won his debut last Sunday, passed for 202 passing yards and two scores, but also turned the ball over on three occasions. New York turned the ball over five times in all, with none worse than when Bryan Bresee forced a fumble from ball carrier Skattebo, resulting in the safety's touchdown. Both teams are one win and four losses.
